MARITIMES SCANNING SITE
FAQ #7
Question: Can you program my scanner?
Answer: This is something I do not do any longer. At one time I actually programmed scanners for the media as a side business, but those days are past. You may be surprised to hear that I do not any longer have a collection of scanners and am not up on the latest ones, nor do I have the software for them or any earlier ones. My own scanning is now very much limited and the only programmable scanner I use at all is the PRO-97 which is not digital. My suggestion if you need some help with programming or in choosing a scanner is to visit www.scanmaritimes.ca if you haven't done so already, join for free. Then post a message asking for help. Someone will answer!
Also in regard to programming it is easy to get the software for your computer programmable scanner. I am not really up on Uniden, but i would suggest you try http://scancat.com/ For Radio Shack or GRE scanner I recommend Don Starr's software. Some of the older programs, for older scanners, are now free. The newer ones are very reasonably priced Go to www.starrsoft.com
The harder part is to obtain the necessary cables and for that I cannot help you. For Radio Shack/GRE you can go to a RAdio Shack store in the US, as I have done.... but some questions at scanmaritimes might get you some other help.
