Nova Scotia Power Corporation

Last updated December 22, 2005, with comments added 2008

NSPC is a division of Emira, which also owns the electrical utility for Bangor, Maine.    Many older Nova Scotians still refer to the company as Nova Scotia Light & Power, a name that has been obsolete for at least 30 years!!

NSPC frequencies are of interest during snowstorms and other events in which power outages occur.   I have searched TAFL and here am presenting the frequencies found for the Halifax area.  This is temporary, and I must say that I am very much unfamiliar with NSPC communications.  I have over the years heard communications on some of these frequencies, along with an assortment of tones.  Some of these tones appear to be data bursts and others seem more to be associated with the voice communications, perhaps in dialing up or shutting down links.   I have never spent the time necessary to begin to understand this system.

If any readers have an information to contribute about the system, regarding what you actually hear and on what frequencies, please email me.

It is assumed that Frequency 1 is the repeater output (except in the case of simplex) but this is by no means a sure thing.  The tone column is for CTCSS or similar tones (if these are determined).
